Montana State University invites all University current and prospective employees and students to read the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. As required by federal law under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), any postsecondary institution participating in the Higher Education Act (HEA’s) Title IV student financial assistance programs must comply and issue campus alerts to provide the campus community with information necessary to make informed decisions about their health and safety, issue a timely warning for any Clery Act crime that represents an ongoing threat to the safety of students or employees and issue emergency notifications upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on campus.

Montana State University is required under the Clery Act to publish an Annual Security Report every October. This letter satisfies the requirement of annual distribution of the following information to all employees and students. Montana State University prepares this report in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act and the Public Act no. 12-78, an act concerning sexual violence on college campuses. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Montana State University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also includes institutional policies on campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.  The most recent Annual Security Reports are listed below. All reports are in .PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. Instructions for downloading it are included below.
